Navigate life, relationships & change with support

What our clients may be facing:

We work with teens and adults navigating a wide range of emotional, psychological, and relational challenges. Some of the concerns we frequently support include:

  • Relationship difficulties and communication breakdowns—in romantic, family, friendship, or work contexts

  • Attachment issues, intimacy challenges in intimate relationships or dating

  • Healing from past trauma, including childhood experiences, emotional neglect, or difficult relational patterns

  • Trauma recovery—including childhood trauma, emotional neglect, and complex relational wounds

  • Anxiety, emotional overwhelm, burnout, chronic stress or social anxiety

  • Life transitions—such as becoming a parent, changing careers, separation, or rebuilding after loss

  • Grief, loss, identity shifts, and existential questions around purpose and meaning

  • Living with a diagnosis, including newly diagnosed (including late-identified neurodivergence)

  • Parenting stress - whether new parents, or a parent of teens or adults

  • Recovery from abuse, narcissistic relationships or emotionally complex dynamics

  • Cross-cultural identity issues and intergenerational trauma

  • Individuals seeking deeper support and understanding

  • Exploring identity, meaning, or purpose—especially during times of personal reinvention

How we work - special interests & expertise

We take a deeply relational approach to therapy. We believe our relationships—with ourselves and with others—shape much of our emotional and psychological well-being. At Riverkin, we integrate insights from interpersonal neurobiology, trauma research, and evidence-based modalities to offer therapy that is both grounded and adaptable.

We are collaborative and client-centred, respecting your autonomy while also able to lead sessions when needed. Therapy can be reflective and exploratory, or it can be structured and goal-oriented—depending on what best supports your process.

Our practice is rooted in psychotherapy, not psychology. We don’t follow a diagnosis-first model or rely on CBT alone. Instead, we work “bottom-up,” engaging the emotional and somatic system as well as thoughts—because you are a whole person, not just a mind.

Clients may also choose to work with us privately to maintain confidentiality and flexibility, without needing GP involvement. Private sessions also typically allow for shorter wait times and greater continuity of care.
